Tanaiste Leo Varadkar said people will see a “very significant” intervention by Government to help with rising costs – and the cash will be in their pockets within weeks.
Speaking at a Fine Gael small business and enterprise conference in Co Limerick yesterday, he revealed that financial supports would continue into next year alongside one-off Budget measures.
Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe at the same event said the healthy tax take would prove vital, with “risks going up” across the globe.

He added: “We want to ensure we’ve the ability to respond back throughout 2023 if things get more challenging, or we have to deal with new risks.
“But measures being implemented this year will mean more money in people’s pockets; we know they need it.”
Meanwhile, the Fine Gael executive council established an enterprise and small business council, with the inaugural AGM taking place at the end of yesterday’s conference.
European Commissioner Mairead McGuinness said it was “a golden opportunity to engage directly with small and medium-sized businesses”.
She added: “SMEs are the backbone of the European economy – 25 million European SMEs employ approximately 100 million people.
“These enterprises are exposed to disruptions across supply chains and high energy costs.
“SMEs need support in difficult times from Government and our work at EU level ensures that the issues of concern to SMEs are addressed, including reducing the regulatory burden and access to finance.”
