Leo Varadkar responds to viral video of him 'enjoying himself' by satirical Irish Twitter page Mallow News

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has responded to a viral video poking fun at him posted by a satirical Irish Twitter page.

The video which takes a swipe at Varadkar was posted by Mallow News and has been viewed over a million times in less than 24 hours.

The satirical page prides itself on "fake news and comment from Mallow, the town that killed Oliver Reed" according to its biography on the social media platform.

On Wednesday night, they posted a video of a child playing on a bouncy castle and as the child is hopping up and down, he keeps his hands firmly placed in his pocket.

The video was accompanied with the caption 'footage of a young Leo Varadkar enjoying himself'.

The clip received nearly two thousand reactions and it wasn't long before the Fine Gael leader chimed in to poke fun at himself.

Retweeting the video, the Taoiseach replied with "Ok. I hear you! Less hands in pockets."

He was applauded by followers on his page for joining in on the banter with Fine Gael senator Neale Richmond saying that the reply was "class".

Another person commented saying: "This is what Twitter is for! Hats off to the Taoiseach for replying."
