Leo Varadkar has confirmed a comprehensive statement on easing restrictions around hairdressers, non-essential and gyms will be given this evening.
However the Tanaiste said that no announcement on foreign travel would be made this evening.
Speaking on his Instagram Live this afternoon ahead of the Taoiseach's announcement, the Tanaiste said: "There's lot of stuff in the paper's already as is always the case but the formal decision won't be made by Cabinet until this afternoon.
"There will be an announcement on gyms I'm looking forward to that myself. The country is desperate to get back to the gym and I hear that."
The Tanaiste confirmed that tonight's announcement will cover a range of restrictions and said that further clarity would be given on other areas including driving tests, cinemas, weddings and the return to college campuses.
He added: "There'll be some news on that too[driving tests]. I know a lot of young people in particularly keen to get driving and its important for employment too so there's a plan going to be put in place for driving lessons and theory tests and all those things.

"Cinemas aren't considered retail. But we will have confirmation on when they can open this afternoon."
The Tanaiste added that it was the Government's hope that a "decent" amount of people aged over 30 would be vaccinated by June adding that there would also be an update on the freedoms that you get when you get vaccinated.
"It's a long way until now and September and October when Universities will open. By then students will be vaccinated. We hope that through a combination of vaccination and antigen testing that we'll have a much more normal college experience for young people in September."
Mr Varadkar echoed the words of Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney that no announcement would be made on foreign holidays this evening however.
The Taoiseach is set to address the nation at around 6pm followed by a press briefing with the Tanaiste and Minister for Culture Catherine Martin.
