The new Tanaiste has delighted his Twitter followers by changing his new Government ID card to include a fada.

Mr Varadkar posted a picture of the original ID over the weekend but many eagle eyed social media users spotted it was a missing a fada in Tanaiste.

Many also noticed the new smart haircut on the card after the Taoiseach made use of the barbers reopening on Monday.

The Tanaiste tweeted after his haircut: "Lunchbreak haircut. At last! Please support small businesses to help people get back to work. Now at Cabinet to discuss Covid and July jobs stimulus."

Fellow Cabinet member and Green Party leader Eamon Ryan has joined the thousands of eager customers paying a trip to barbers.
