Leo Varadkar is considering introducing new laws banning porn for under 18s.
It comes just a day after a slew of shocking evidence in the Ana Kriegel case was made public after the trial ended.
Garda detectives found that one of the boys convicted of murder had a horrifying catalogue of porn on his phone, including samples of bestiality and child porn.
The Taoiseach told the Dáil that he is considering changing the law to make it harder for children to access such disgusting pornography online.
Mr Varadkar was responding to Labour leader, Brendan Howlin, who raised the issue during Leaders’ Questions.
Mr Howlin said: “His (the convicted boy) internet searches in previous years are reported to have included child pornography and animal pornography.
“We can clearly and unambiguously say this material should not be accessible to children.”
Mr Varadkar said that the Government would be monitoring a law restricting under 18s access to porn now being introduced in the UK with a view to possibly bringing one in here too.
“It is a concern that pornography is so accessible to young people. And indeed so many young people learn about sex through pornography which is not an accurate representation of what is healthy in life.”
He added: “The UK law is relatively new, we don’t know yet if it will be successful.
Mr Varadkar said that the upcoming internet safety bill will also be addressing some of the concerns being raised.
