Leo Coyte imparts a sense of celebratory irreverence through his art making process by mining bits and pieces of the painting traditions that interest him. The images that arise from this process read as absurd open-ended narratives. Coyte was a finalist in this year’s Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award and the upcoming John Fries award at UNSW Galleries.
