Lenny Henry stuns Comic Relief viewers over real age as they swoon over 'youthful' appearance

Sir Lenny Henry was back on screens on Friday night for the annual Comic Relief fundraiser.

The BBC telethon returned with Sir Lenny, David Tennant, Paddy McGuinness, Alesha Dixon and Davina McCall among the hosts for a star-studded night of comedy entertainment.

007 himself Daniel Craig featured in the programme as James Bond alongside Catherine Tate's foul-mouthed character Nan in a sketch for the programme.

A group of comedians were also challenged to learn and perform the song and were coached by the English National Opera and soprano Charlotte Church, while Justin Bieber gave an exclusive performance of his song Hold On during the show.

Sir Lenny said on the show: “After a year of lockdowns, we hope we have given you laughter and joy."

But viewers were distracted by the comedian, actor and TV host as they swooned over his 'youthful' appearance.

"How does he look younger every time I see him?” asked one viewer.

Another exclaimed: "Lenny Henry looks YOUNG."

"Lenny Henry is 63 in August. He looks amazing," a third added.

A fourth commented: "Laughter really does keep you younger, just take a look at Sir Lenny Henry!"

"I didn't even recognise Lenny Henry, he's lost so much weight #ComicRelief," added another.

But as ever, all the attention was really on raising as much money as possible for charity.

And the fundraising total for Comic Relief currently stands at more than £52m so far.

Britain's Got Talent star Alesha said at the end of the programme: "You have made an incredible difference to the lives of people here in the UK and across the world.

"Your generosity tonight will create lasting change for those who need our support now more than ever."

The Duke of Cambridge also made an appearance in the programme to thank viewers for their "compassion and generosity" in raising millions for good causes during last year’s Big Night In television fundraiser which saw Comic Relief and Children In Need join together.
