Carlow's Steve Lennon and Limerick's William O'Connor will compete at the PDC Grand Slam of Darts next weekend.
The Irish contingent's qualification was confirmed as a result of their World Cup exploits where they reached the final in a losing effort to Scotland. The pair shocked ex-champions the Netherlands and England along the way.
The qualification format, which has been subject to scrutiny recently, features all major finalists from the previous twelve months.
The World Cup of Darts despite being a pairs tournament, is included in the criteria.
European Tour event winners Joe Cullen and Krysztof Ratajksi will enter a qualifier on Monday despite their title success.
In an interview with Live Darts , Cullen was vocal about criteria which Lennon and O'Connor have availed of.
He said: "It's well documented that the Grand Slam criteria is massively flawed.
"I don't see how a pairs event, no disrespect to Willie and Steve Lennon, could justify getting you in [to the Grand Slam] over a massive European event. I think winners should get rewarded."
ITV pundit Chris Mason was in agreement with Joe Cullen. Speaking to Live Darts he said: "I don't think it [World Cup of Darts] carries enough credibility to warrant an invite into one of the biggest tournaments in world darts and that's what the Grand Slam is."
The Grand Slam of Darts will take place from November 9-17 live on Sky Sports.
