Lennard Sowah a transfer target for Kilmarnock as Angelo Alessio hunts for new players

Kilmarnock are eyeing a move for former Hearts and Hamilton defender Lennard Sowah.

Rugby Park manager Angelo Alessio is hunting new faces for his squad as the club gears up for the Ladbrokes Premiership opener against Rangers on Sunday.

Sowah has emerged as a candidate as the Italian considers his options.

The 26-year-old was one of eight players released by Accies at the end of last term after their top-flight status was secured.

Sowah has been without a club since, but Alessio’s assistant Massimo Donati played alongside the utility man during his days in Lanarkshire and he is on the Ayrshire radar.

The German-born defender had a term at Tynecastle between two spells at Hamilton with clubs such as Portsmouth, Danes FC Vestsjaelland and Polish side Cracovia also on his CV.

Kilmarnock have made just two signings in the summer window, Laurentiu Branescu and Mohamed El Makrini.
