The bomb squad is in the Lenadoon area of West Belfast after a suspicious object was found in the area.
ATO vehicles arrived in the Kerrykeel Gardens area on Tuesday evening after the object was discovered.
The police have not released any details yet.
In a brief statement they said: “Police are currently in attendance at a security alert in the Kerrykeel Gardens area of west Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious object this evening (Tuesday, 22nd June).
“A number of cordons are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
