Lena Dunham claims she warned Hillary Clinton camp Harvey Weinstein was 'a rapist'

Lena Dunham claims that she tried to convince Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign not to accept money from Harvey Weinstein.

The "Girls" alum told the New York Times that she told Kristina Schake, the campaign's deputy communications director, that Weinstein was a "rapist" at least a year before recent accusations arose against the producer.

"I just want you to let you know that Harvey's a rapist and this is going to come out at some point," Dunham claims she told Schake.

"I think it's a really bad idea for him to host fund-raisers and be involved because it's an open secret in Hollywood that he has a problem with sexual assault."

Dunham also claimed she told Clinton spokeswoman Adrienne Elrod, but that she doesn't think Clinton ever received her warning.

Two weeks before the election, Weinstein organized a Broadway fundraiser for Clinton with celebrity guests including Julia Roberts, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hugh Jackman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Emily Blunt, Angela Bassett, Neil Patrick Harris and Helen Mirren.

Elrod and Schake both told the Times that Dunham never mentioned rape when she talked to them.

Weinstein has been accused of sexual harassment and assault by more than 100 women.

He is currently under investigation by NYPD, LAPD, Scotland Yard and Beverly Hills Police.
