Leitrim GAA fans to walk miles again to raise funds for county teams

Leitrim people living all over the world are set to walk 50 miles once again this January.

Last year, the good folk from the county with the smallest population in the country, walked, jogged, ran and cycled to raise badly needed funds for Leitrim's gaelic teams.

The 50-mile challenge was successful beyond expectation with many of the Leitrim diaspora across the world participating.

Stories and photos of walks were shared on the group's Facebook page and fans are being urged to take up the challenge again to help raise funds to improve underage coaching and invest in the preparation of the county's teams.

Leitrim supporters are looking to 2022 with renewed enthusiasm following the appointment of Mayo legend Andy Moran as the county's senior team's manager.

Leitrim Tourism have come on board to sponsor the challenge as a result of its huge success last year.

Leitrim Tourism's CEO stated: "We ask you to take part in the January 2022 50 miles challenge. As the Covid 19 concerns and restrictions remain with us, the physical and mental benefits of outdoor walks adding up to 50 miles during January, would be timely. A simple walk before work or a walk at lunchtime could form part of the Challenge."
