Eleven people were rescued by firefighters during a blaze at a block of flats on Leith Walk, with two men being taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire started shortly after 1am on Sunday, with nine engines being called to the scene.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said a large amount of smoke had built up in the stairwell.
Seven women and two men were treated at the scene of the incident, with the remaining two taken to hospital.

Pictures shared on Facebook showed a large team of firefighters assembled outside. A cherry picker and ladders were being used to access the upper flats.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: "We were alerted at 1.10am on February 2 to reports of a fire affecting a block of residential flats.
"We mobilised nine appliances to Leith Walk. Firefighters safely removed 11 people by ladder due to the presence of heavy smoke in the common stairwell.
"The adult casualties suffered smoke inhalation. Seven women and two men were treated at the scene. The remaining two men were taken to hospital.
"Crews located and extinguished the fire and left the scene at 3.35am after ensuring the area was safe."
