Leith Street incident: Watch as emergency services race to fire at Edinburgh hostel

An Edinburgh local has captured dramatic footage of the emergency services racing to the scene of a fire at Leith Street hostel this morning.

In the video, police, fire engines and the ambulance service can be seen racing to the scene in Edinburgh.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they sent three appliances to tackle the hostel blaze and checked on the wellbeing of a man.

A spokesperson for the fire service told Edinburgh Evening News that: “A male was checked over at the scene but did not require to go to hospital.”

Leith Street Hostel is owned by Edinburgh City Council and a spokesperson confirmed to the paper that it was a "a small domestic fire" in one of the bedrooms of the hostel.

The resident staying in the room is said to have been moved to another bedroom due to fire damage and luckily no one has been injured.
