Leith's honey bee population under threat as search is launched for a new home for hives

Do you happen to have a particularly large garden? Maybe you know of an orchard or park with space going free? Well, you could be the answer to beekeeper Amanda Moffet's problems.

If you live in Leith you'll be accustomed to spotting Amanda's bees visiting your garden or local park and now, she needs the help of Leith locals.

Work is currently being undertaken at The Community Croft on Leith Links where Amanda's hives currently live and she is now looking to find a new space to move most or all of these bees to.

She wrote on a post on Facebook : "I’m looking for a space for 5/6 hives. It needs to be accessible by me and can’t really be a tenement or allotment.

"I have contacted everywhere I can think of but sadly there are no spaces that I know of in Leith. This essentially means Leith losing most (don’t know if any other beekeepers) of their honey bee population."

Do you know somewhere that could home the hives for Amanda? You can comment on her post here.
