Leith residents notified of plans to demolish host of buildings to make way for housing

Leith residents have been formally notified of plans to demolish a number of buildings to make way for housing.

Those living in the Bonnington Road area have been told about planning permission submitted for a site on Bonnington Road lane, which includes the John Lewis depot.

The applicant is proposing the "demolition of existing buildings and redevelopment comprising build to rent residential accommodation, commercial uses, associated landscaping and infrastructure".

Letters were sent by the City of Edinburgh Council to residents this week, with people given 21 days to comment on the plans.

Edinburgh Live reported in December how developer PLATFORM_ wanted to knock down a number of buildings, including the John Lewis depot and the Bonnington Centre. The nearby Biscuit Factory will remain unaffected.

A public exhibition took place in the Biscuit Factory towards the end of the year to share more details of the plans with residents.
