Leith Links incident: Car driven at group of men before victim was assaulted

A car was driven at a group of men who were standing in Leith Links before a man was assaulted, police have said.

Detectives are appealing for information following a disturbance in the park on Sunday evening.

Police Scotland released further details of the incident, which happened near the Links Athletic FC changing rooms.

Around 5.50pm, a Volvo V40 drove towards a group of men who were standing in the Links. A 21-year-old man who had been in the car was then attacked by one of the men in the group.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, having suffered minor injuries.

Detective inspector Jon Pleasance, of Gayfield CID, said: "We're trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident so if anyone has any information relating to this or witnessed the incident, please contact us."

One of the suspects is described as white and stocky. He was wearing a dark top, shorts and white trainers.

The other suspect is described as black, short and was dressed all in black.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting incident number 3175 of November 3.
