Leisure centres across a Nottinghamshire district will remain open despite the COVID-19 outbreak.
The centres in question are those managed by the Mansfield District Leisure Trust , on behalf of Mansfield District Council.
However, while they remain open, the Water Meadows Leisures Centre will be operating reduced opening hours, starting from Saturday, March 21.
Water Meadows will be open from 9am until 4pm on Saturday and Sunday and 12pm until 7pm on weekdays.
Only the competition pool, gym and cafe will remain open, with the soft play closed for the foreseeable.
Bosses have assured customers extra steps are being taken to safely support their wellbeing, in all of their centres.
These include “reducing the number of people in classes and only using alternate machines in the gym and reducing the time spent on cardio activities to less than one hour”.
Cleaning schedules have been increased across all four centres and customers are asked to strictly follow the advice from Public Health England on handwashing.
The company has stated “customers who feel unwell should not use the leisure centres and instead access free workout classes being offered online”.
Serco, which operates the centres, will review the situation before any decisions are made to close.
Public parks and open spaces managed by the district council also remain available for use.
The council has postponed a range of public events, including themed markets and activities in the town centre, for 12 weeks, along with closing the Palace Theatre and Mansfield Museum.
