Leipzig vs Tottenham prediction: Patrik Schick to sink Spurs' Champions League hopes

Tottenham continue to find themselves in tricky situations.

They have lost eight of their last 10 European knockout games after losing the first leg - but could they repeat their famous night in Amsterdam last season?

A well-organised RB Leipzig limited Spurs chances at home and gave themselves a 1-0 lead going into the second leg.

Leipzig's rise to become one of Europe's top-sides continues to impress the plaudits, even if many German football fans do not approve of their structure and the way they go about business in football.

The away goal will need to be countered quickly if Jose Mourinho wants to maintain his (rather slim) chances of European glory.

He will need to do that without Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and now Steve Bergwijn.

It will take something impressive for Mourinho to deny Timo Werner and co another quarter-final tie for only the second time in the German club's history.

Lee Wilmot spoke to thepools.com ahead of the match.

Recommended bets:

  • Leipzig to win 2-1 - 15/2
  • Patrik Schick to score first - 9/2

Score prediction

Got a feeling Tottenham will make it interesting and score, maybe to equalise on the night and make it nervy for the home side, but think Leipzig will win 2-1 (15/2), breakaway goal late on.

First goalscorer:

Patrik Schick (9/2) was impressive in the first leg, going to have him to open the scoring.

Who's on the naughty step?

Tanguy Ndombele is on the naughty step with Jose Mourinho that's for sure. One of either Eric Dier or Erik Lamela to be booked.

Who's on pens?

Who knows? It looks like Dele Alli (11/4 anytime) in the absence of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Will they keep a clean sheet?

This is Tottenham we're talking about, there's almost no chance of a clean sheet (1/9).
