Leinster sign former Munster tighthead prop Ciaran Parker on initial three-month loan from Jersey Reds

Leinster have signed former Munster tighthead prop Ciaran Parker on an initial three-month loan from Jersey Reds.

The province were unhappy to lose Roman Salanoa to Munster as well as Jack Aungier to Connacht in the summer and, while they have Tadhg Furlong, Andrew Porter and Michael Bent, 24-year-old Parker has been added to increase their options.

Parker joined Jersey Reds from Munster in the summer, having made 13 appearances for the province, but hasn't played for his new club yet to due Covid-19. Parker is Irish-qualified and was previously with Sale Sharks as well.

He represented Munster and Sale in the Champions Cup, as well as playing in the Premiership and the Guinness PRO14.

He was also a member of the victorious 2015 England U20s Six Nations side and will join up with the Leinster squad after completing his travel quarantine protocols.

"For a young man Ciaran already has good experience across the Premiership and the Guinness PRO14," said Leinster head coach Leo Cullen.

"And we feel that he will give us a good option at a time when we are going to be under pressure with players away with Ireland and just the nature of the schedule we have ahead of us.

"I’d like to thank Jersey Reds for their help in making this move work and Ciaran himself and we now look forward to welcoming him to the club and to seeing how he can contribute in the coming weeks and months."
