Leinster's preparations for the Champions Cup pool clash in Montpellier on Friday night are continuing despite a number of new positive Covid cases confirmed among the playing squad.
The province lost three senior players ahead of the opening pool win against Bath last Saturday, as well as one staff member, and Leinster have this afternoon confirmed that there are an 'additional' number of senior players' who have tested positive and are self-isolating.
The new results followed the round of PCR testing that occurred yesterday as training was cancelled, but a session did go ahead at UCD among the group of players who tested negative to a full round of antigen and PCR tests.
Montpellier also confirmed earlier that a fifth player in their squad has tested positive, after four did so in the wake of the club's opening pool defeat at Exeter Chiefs on Saturday.
Munster's game at Wasps went ahead last weekend despite a large number of positive tests between both camps, but it remains to be seen if Leinster's trip to France will proceed.
A statement from Leinster reads: "Leinster Rugby returned to training today at UCD following yesterday’s postponement and a full round of antigen and PCR tests which were carried out on site.
"Leinster Rugby can confirm that the club is assisting an additional number of senior players who have tested positive for Covid-19 and are now self-isolating.
"The latest cases follow the antigen and PCR testing which were carried out at Leinster Rugby on all players, coaches and staff.
"The HSE has been informed in accordance with public health guidelines, as has EPCR.
"The remaining members of the Leinster Rugby squad will train today in UCD and will continue to test daily and take all necessary precautions ahead of Friday’s Heineken Champions Cup game against Montpellier in France."
