Leinster condemn 'sectarian' incident after gardai remove 'fan' from Aviva Stadium during Heineken Champions Cup game with Ulster

Leinster Rugby has condemned an "isolated" incident at yesterday's Heineken Champions Cup game in which a fan was forcibly removed by gardai.

The Blues ran out 21-18 winners over Ulster last night in an electric Heineken Cup encounter that saw the defending champions come from behind.

During the game, one "fan" had allegedly been shouting sectarian abuse at other supporters in the stands.

He was pointed out to gardai by revellers before being removed from the stadium.

In a statement today Leinster Rugby say they are aware of the incident and that "there is no place" for it in the game.

They said: "Leinster Rugby is aware of an isolated incident during yesterday’s game which was dealt with at the time by stewards and by Gardaí. There is no place in sport or in our society for any form of physical or verbal abuse. #LEIvULS

"Thank you to the vast majority of the 51,700 who sang, roared, cheered and urged both teams on in what was a hugely special day for Irish rugby. Let that be the narrative."

Despite the bad apple, the majority fans were full of praise for eachother.

One Ulster fan said: "Had a great time and had great banter with the Leinster fans!! Good luck in the Semi Finals"

Another fan wrote: "At the ulster v Leinster game yesterday. Brilliant game and a brilliant atmosphere by both sets of fans. Good go see the north and the South sitting side by side true all forms of sport.

A Blues fan said: "Leinster fan here and very impressed with Ulster today. Really possibly deserved more."
