Leinster ace Dan Leavy out for season after another serious injury blow

Leinster and Ireland ace Dan Leavy won't play again this season after undergoing knee surgery to repair cartilage damage.

The unfortunate back row star had played nine times this campaign for Leinster having battled back from a horror injury that meant he missed the 2019 World Cup.

Leavy, 26, scored a try on his last start against Scarlets last month but that will be his last involvement for Leo Cullen's side this term. He is expected to make a full recovery by the summer.

Leinster have also said they are investigating the 'concussive symptoms' which meant Caelan Doris had to leave the Irish camp for the Six Nations.

"Once the investigation is complete and all information is to hand, we will issue a further update," read a statement.

There is positive news for Rory O’Loughlin who has returned to training following a shoulder injury and is expected to be available for selection for Friday night's Pro14 game away to Dragons.

Tommy O’Brien has also returned to training following an ankle injury and is expected to be available for selection.

Michael Bent and Scott Penny will both return to training this week after neck injuries but require further assessment before a final decision is made on their availability.

Adam Byrne who has been out with a hamstring issue since the end of last season will again look to increase his training involvement this week as he continues his recovery.
