Leigh-on-Sea crash: Drug driving arrest as pedestrian in her 90s dies after being hit by motorbike in Essex

A pedestrian in her 90s has died after being hit by a motorbike in Essex.

The collision happened in Leigh-on-Sea on Tuesday afternoon and a man, 23, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

An Essex Police statement read: "A pedestrian and a motorbike were in collision in London Road at around 4.50pm on Tuesday, April 2.

"The pedestrian, a woman in her 90s, was treated by paramedics, [but] sadly died at the scene.

"A 23 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

"He is currently in custody.

"We need anyone who saw or heard something or has dash cam or CCTV footage to call us on 101 quoting incident 818 of April 2."
