Leigh Halfpenny reveals 'mixed emotions' after suffering devastating injury 30 seconds into his 100th Test match

Leigh Halfpenny has revealed his mixed emotions after suffering what appeared to be a serious knee injury just 30 seconds into his 100th Test match.

The full-back, who has played 96 times for Wales and four Tests for the Lions, twisted awkwardly during his first touch of the ball on Saturday.

He fell to the ground and was visibly in pain as he signalled his distress to medics.

Halfpenny was then stretchered from the field and was later seen in a leg brace and on crutches as he left the stadium.

Posting on social media, Halfpenny said: "Mixed emotions right now, not how I hoped it would go but a special day running out for my country to play my 100th international Test.

"It’s always a huge honour to put on the Wales and Lions jerseys and I have had some incredible memories in both, which I feel extremely grateful for.

"It was extra special to have our home fans and my family back in the stands and congratulations to all the new caps.

"Thank you for all the kind messages."

Scans on the injured limb were scheduled for this morning, the results of which are yet to be made public.

After Halfpenny was taken from the field, Wales went on to beat Canada 68-12.
