Leigh Griffiths warned by Celtic again after striker throws lockdown birthday bash

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has received another warning over his conduct after holding a gathering at his house.

Pictures emerged on social media of a get-together at the Parkhead star's house that appeared to breach the Scottish Government's current social distancing guidelines.

Griffiths has already been read the riot act by boss Neil Lennon this season after returning from lockdown out of shape.

And although the party - thrown for his girlfriend's birthday - is believed to have been relatively small, the Scotland international has been reminded of the rules.

A Celtic spokesperson told The Daily Mail : "We're aware of it and he has been reminded of his responsibilities."

It follows no fewer than eight Aberdeen players being forced into self-isolation following a night out last Saturday.

The Granite City has experienced a fresh coronavirus outbreak over the past week linked to a number of bars, with the Government re-imposing some lockdown rules in the area.

Two of Derek McInnes' first-team squad returned positive Covid-19 tests with a further six required to enter a fortnight's quarantine.

The fiasco prompted Lennon to remind his Celtic stars they should be following a strict 'home, training, home, games' routine until the worldwide picture improves.

He said on Friday: "It's basically a case of home, training, home, games. Unfortunately, that's the way it's got to be until things get better.

"The players here have, in the main, been excellent."
