Leigh Griffiths to Hibs transfer latest as Celtic urged to take 'no-brainer' option

Celtic have been urged to tie Hibs target Leigh Griffiths down on an extended deal by former Hoops star Charlie Mulgrew.

The striker has been tipped to leave the Hoops this summer and a return to Hibs has been mooted for him, as well as a move to Aberdeen alongside Scott Brown.

But Mulgrew reckons it would be a terrible decision if Celtic allowed Griffiths to leave for a free this summer, and insists it would be a 'no-brainer' to extend his deal.

Griffiths has struggled for game time under Neil Lennon and John Kennedy this season and a move to Easter Road would see him play more often, but Mulgrew reckons it should be a new Celtic manager who does.

He told Sky Sports: "If they get someone in this year you might get something extra out of Leigh.

"He’s coming into the last year of his contract if Celtic take up the option. If a manager can get his arm around him and get him scoring, a fit Leigh Griffiths is worth his weight in gold.

"Get him fit, get him striking, get him confident. You know how big confidence is in football and get him scoring goals.

"I think it’s a no brainer."
