Leigh Griffiths reveals Celtic phone call from Ange Postecoglou as pair hold 'positive' talks

Leigh Griffiths this week held "positive" talks on his future with new Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.

The striker's Parkhead future hangs in the balance as the club ponder whether to activate a 12-month extension option in his contract and he could yet leave on a free this summer.

Celtic haven't enjoyed the best of the Scotland international for some time and he failed to complete a full 90 minutes for his club last term.

Footage of Griffiths undertaking extra training ahead of Postecoglou's arrival circulated online this week and he's since had a phone call from the manager.

The 30-year-old appeared buoyed by the pair's conversation and expects face-to-face discussions with Neil Lennon's successor after his 10 day isolation period ends.

Griffiths told Sky Sports: “I spoke to the manager on Tuesday morning and things seemed positive. We’ll have another chat at the beginning of next week when he’s out of isolation and we’ll take it from there.

“It was a massive thing for him just to give me a phone. He didn’t have to but he took time out his day and gave me his ideas and his plans moving forward.

"So it was a positive chat, we just need to wait until he’s out of isolation, we’ll have a chat face-to-face and we’ll see where we’re at.

“Every level I’ve played at, I’ve scored.

"There’s still a lot to come from me, I’m only 30-years-old and I’ve still got a lot of years left.”
