Leigh Griffiths reveals Ange Postecoglou Celtic talks as striker hints at 'more to come'

Defiant Leigh Griffiths has hinted there is "more to come" from him at Celtic after holding encouraging talks with Ange Postecoglou.

The 30-year-old hitman struggled desperately for game-time last season, failing to win the favour of either Neil Lennon or John Kennedy.

He's out of contract next summer and there has been plenty of speculation that he could leave Celtic Park in the weeks ahead.

But despite failing to manage 90 minutes at any point last season, Griffiths hasn't given up on reviving his Parkhead career.

He's posted a series of images and videos of social media of him hitting the training ground as he prepares to get fit for the new season starting in July.

Celtic may need him as they brace for the potential departure of Odsonne Edouard.

And Griffiths reveals Postecoglou - who is yet to check in at Lennoxtown as he undergoes a period of self-isolation - has already been on the phone to discuss his future.

Griffiths told Sky Sports: "I spoke to the manager on Tuesday morning and things seemed positive.

"We'll have another chat at the beginning of next week when he's out of isolation and we'll take it from there.

"It was a massive thing for him just to give me a phone. He didn't have to but he took time out his day and gave me his ideas and his plans moving forward.

"So it was a positive chat, we just need to wait until he's out of isolation, we'll have a chat face-to-face and we'll see where we're at.

"Every level I've played at, I've scored. There's still a lot to come from me, I'm only 30-years-old and I've still got a lot of years left."

Griffiths' struggles last season mean he missed out on a place in the Scotland squad but he is looking forward to cheering on his team-mates when they travel to Wembley on Friday.

He went on: "As a Scotland player this is THE fixture. I’ve played in a couple and managed to score so I think for the boys it’s about enjoying the experience but we need to get a result.

"The first goal (against England in 2017) was important for me because it was my first goal for Scotland. To do it a couple of moments later - the emotions got the better of me and I did half a lap of the pitch! Which was great.

"But ultimately we never got the result we wanted. We went from an extreme high to an extreme low in the space of a minute and a half. The boys have a chance to rectify that, it’s a massive game, and we need to go down there looking for three points."
