Leigh Griffiths quotes Celtic boss Neil Lennon as defiant striker brands title doubters 'deluded'

Defiant Leigh Griffiths insists Celtic's title doubters are "deluded".

The striker quoted manager Neil Lennon as he dismissed claims the club's Nine in a Row triumph carries an asterisk after the season was declared over.

Lennon earlier stated that the "tainted title" jibes floated by some suggests Celtic had somehow cheated to win the league.

And Griffiths backed his boss' stance, insisting the league title was fully deserved.

He told Clyde 1 Superscoreboard: "With tainted titles or asterisks, I'm going to mention the gaffer, he said to have one of those you have to have done something illegal. We did nothing illegal.

"We played our football as well as we could, we were 13 points clear and looked like we were going to extend that.

"For us to be champions is fully deserved and anyone who says otherwise is deluded."

Celtic's attention now turns to completing a decade of domestic dominance and its magnitude is not lost on Griffiths.

The Scotland international reckons the entire Premiership will be gunning for them but is confident they'll have enough in the tank to get the job done.

"It's the biggest in the club's history. If we go on and win 10 we're down in the history books again.

"There's going to be a lot of pressure on us, teams will want to stop us. But if we bring our A-game to 90, 95 per cent of the games we play then we won't be far away."
