Leigh Griffiths posts moving Celtic thankyou as striker reveals he's back on top form

Leigh Griffiths has confirmed he is back in a happy place after sending a heartfelt thankyou to his loved ones and Celtic family for helping him through his off-field difficulties.

The striker has returned to action after a six-month absence to deal with personal issues.

Griffiths made his first competitive appearance of 2019 against Sarajevo in the Champions League last week - and he took to social media on Monday morning to share his joy.

The 28-year-old thanked girlfriend Caitlyn Melville, his family, friends, the Celtic support and his team mates.

And he confirmed after being in a dark place he has now rediscovered the light.

Writing on Instagram alongside a picture of himself and Scott Brown after the 5-2 aggregate win over Sarajevo, Griffiths said: “What a feeling walking back out onto the pitch after a difficult spell off.

“Great to be back on amongst it again and the reception I got was incredible.

“Someone said to me ‘after the darkness, there will be light’. They promised me it!

“I didn’t believe them, but that person was right.

“Thank you everyone for the support, from @caitlynmelville to my family, very close friends, @celticfc and my team-mates ❤️❤️.”
