Leigh Griffiths on Hibs transfer interest and why Dundee made him feel more wanted

Leigh Griffiths admits he only learned of HIbs ’ interest in him late but no-one at the club picked up the phone and called him.

The Celtic striker rejoined Dundee on a season-long loan deal with his time at Parkhead almost certainly up.

He’s teamed up with former Easter Road teammate James McPake again at Den Park. The pair first played together at Livingston.

Jack Ross admitted he was on the lookout for a striker after Christian Dooidge was ruled out until Christmas with an Achilles injury.

James Scott arrived on loan form Hull City but it remains just he and Kevin Nisbet as the recognised centre forwards.

Reports emerged on deadline day that Grfittihs had favoured Dundee over his boyhood club and he’s explained that it was mcPake desire to get him in that helped make up his mind.

“I heard about Hibs late but I never had a phone call from anybody there,” he said.

“For me, if you want someone at the club, the manager picks up the phone.

“You want to be loved and even have a five-minute chat to say, ‘ We want you here, we want you playing well to get you back in

the fold.’

“James made that perfectly clear to me – so that was it, my mind was made up.

“I came here because of the love that I felt from the manager. I have known him my whole career and he was desperate for me to come here, to show that I’ve still got it to play at the top level.”
