Leigh Griffiths issues defiant Celtic statement as striker insists he's going nowhere

Leigh Griffiths delivered an emphatic response to his Celtic doubters as the striker insisted he's "far from finished" at Parkhead.

The striker bagged a first goal since August to help fire Neil Lennon's side into the Scottish Cup fifth round with victory over Partick Thistle.

Callum McGregor notched a decisive second after the break before Stuart Bannigan's late penalty reduced the deficit.

Following a week in which Griffiths has faced speculation over his Celtic future amid the arrival of Patryk Klimala, the frontman jammed his fingers in his ears to deliver a symbolic message to his critics.

And he's adamant there's much more to come.

"My time at Celtic is far from finished, believe me," the Scotland star told Premier Sports .

"Today I’ve shown I can still score goals and play well.

"It's been a long time coming. I've just had to bide my time, keep working hard in training and when I get my chance I need to play well and score goals.

"I made a run towards the ball and it got moved to the other side. I just had to be in the box and be alive for any chances.

"The defender's nicked it off Odsonne and into my path - the only place I'm going to put it is the back of the net.

"It's frustrating not playing but when I get the chance I need to try and take it."
