Robert Snodgrass insists he would have called up Leigh Griffiths for Scotland's Euro 2020 squad despite the striker not featuring regularly for Celtic.
The 30-year-old was left out by Steve Clarke after finding himself on the fringes at Parkhead, however, Griffiths has produced magic moments for his country and Snodgrass reckons Clarke's call could be a misstep.
The West Brom winger told the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily Podcast that the natural ability should have seen his former Livingston team-mate included.
Snodgrass said: “Listen, in terms of finishing, since he was a kid really, when he was like 16, coming through and I’ve said this many times that he just has that instinct.
"He would shoot from anywhere in the park.
“To answer your question he has got that natural ability and Pat (Nevin) will tell you those strikers think differently, they hit it quicker than wingers, midfielders or defenders, they just know.
"So to have him in there with his record; what’s obviously gone against Griffiths is that he’s not played a lot of games consistently this year. They’ve ( Celtic ) obviously gone for (Odsonne) Edouard up top.
"Pat will tell you always need goal scorers in your team, and I think looking at it I’d like to have him in the team because I know what he can do.
”Steve Clarke is the man and he knows. Sometimes you say people have just missed out, and that you are actually saying they aren't a good player, it's not that.
"It's a tough job for the manager and he has made that decision."
