Leigh-Anne Pinnock unfollows Nicki Minaj following Jesy Nelson 'blackfishing' row

Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock has unfollowed Nicki Minaj on social media after the rapper got involved in a blackfishing row concerning Jesy Nelson.

Jesy recently released her first solo single, titled Boyz, but was accused of blackfishing.

Blackfishing is a term used for people who alter their appearance (e.g. tanning, specific hairstyles, clothing trends, cosmetic surgery etc.) to appear black or racially ambiguous.

She was also accused of trying to capitalise on black culture and black history for her own gain.

Leigh-Anne, 30, was believed to have accused the star of blackfishing in DMs shared by an influencer.

Following the accusations by fans and (supposedly) Leigh-Anne, Jesy went live with Nicki - who features on her new song.

The Boyz singer was defended by the Chun-Li rapper, who insulted Little Mix during the live.

Nicki said: "Immediately that person has to wear a big red clown nose and big clown boots because you're a big f**ing clown."

She went on: "Sweetheart take them text messages and shove it up ur f**king a**, because when you do clown s**t I gotta treat you and talk to you like you're a clown."

Nicki continued: "It screams insecurity, it screams that you're jealous, only jealous people do things like this and now you just look like a big jealous bozo."

Since then, Leigh-Anne unfollowed the Anaconda rapper.

Others have been on an unfollowing spree and removed Jesy from their Instagram as well.

The Sun reports that fellow singer Anne Marie, who collaborated with the band on a song called Kiss My (Uh Oh): “has made it clear where her allegiance lies” and has “unfollowed Jesy Nelson”.

The Sun also claims: “Paloma Faith and MNEK have supported the group publicly since the argument erupted.”

Meanwhile, Jesy has defended herself over the cultural appropriation claims and said she is "very aware that I'm a white British woman; I've never said that I wasn't.

"But I mean, like, I love Black culture. I love Black music. That's all I know; it's what I grew up on."
