Leigh-Anne Pinnock recalls heartbreaking racist abuse when she was just 9 years old

Little Mix's Leigh-Anne Pinnock has recalled a devastating incident of racism when she was just nine years old.

The songstress, 28, sat down in front of the camera as part of tonight's Channel 4 documentary The Talk.

The show sees black Britons including Leigh-Anne, Marvin and Rochelle Humes, Emeli Sande, and Tinie Tempah, relate their own experiences of racism in the UK.

It focused particularly on childhood experiences of discrimination, Leigh-Anne bravely coming forward with a specific incident.

She told: "In primary school, a boy wrote on a bit of paper, 'Name: Leigh-Anne/Age: Nine/Nationality: Jungle.'

"I saw it, and my heart just dropped. I knew it racism. I was nine years old, I knew it was racism.

This Morning's Rochelle, who appeared with husband Marvin, also recalled an incident of racism from her childhood.

After her classmate had told her that her dad wouldn't let Rochelle come to her party because of her dad's racism, Rochelle "tried to scrub [her] skin off."

"I'm not upset for me," Rochelle continued, "I'm just upset because I think, my little girl is the same age.

"I just don't know how I would handle that."
