Leicester 0-2 Manchester United LIVE! Premier League result reaction as Man Utd qualify for Champions League

Manchester United clinched third spot in the Premier League and qualification for next season's Champions League with a 2-0 win over Leicester City thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard.

Chelsea's 2-0 lead at Wolves meant that only one of these teams was going to make it into the top four next season but there was a surprisingly lack of urgency from both sides.

Indeed, Leicester nearly broke United's hearts when Jamie Vardy headed against the woodwork from Tielemans' cross.

But after some sloppy play from Hamza Choudhury, United broke forward with Anthony Martial and he was brought down by Wes Morgan inside the area. VAR checked it and agreed with Martin Atkinson's decision.

Fernandes stepped up with all the confidence in the world and dispatched the spot-kick.

Leicester had no reply with Jonny Evans sent off late on, with substitute Lingard striking late on as United secured their place in the top four for the first time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Team news

Leicester XI: Schmeichel, Justin, Morgan, Evans, Albrighton, Choudhury, Ndidi, Tielemans, Thomas, Iheanacho, Vardy

Subs: Gray, Ward, Barnes, Perez, James, Mendy, Praet, Bennett, Hirst

Man Utd XI: de Gea, Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Williams, Pogba, Matic, Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, Rashford, Martial

Subs: Bailly, Mata, Lingard, Fred, James, Romero, Fosu-Mensah, Ighalo, McTominay

Prediction: Leicester 1-1 Man United

With so much at stake and both sides lacking form, Sunday's match is almost certain to be a cagey affair.

United only need a point, but should they play for it, they leave themselves open to Leicester piling forward - and Solskjaer's side have conceded eight in their last four games.

With the game on a knife-edge, a set-piece either way could decide things - but a draw is the likeliest outcome.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

United dominate this Premier League fixture, winning 18 of their 27 top-flight meetings, drawing seven and losing just twice to Leicester.

The last time the two sides met in the League, United sealed a narrow 1-0 win at Old Trafford last September.
