An independent travel agency is proving that there’s still a decent market for high street services by launching two new stores.
Leicester-based Millington Travel has opened the branches in Rugby, Warwickshire, and Hinckley, in Leicestershire, bringing its network to 14 travel stores across the Midlands.
Co-founder Nigel Armitage said the new stores had prime positions in both towns, offering Independent advice on flights, holidays, tours and cruises – with ABTA and ATOL protection.
They also offer currency services.
The Rugby store, in The Swan Centre, Chapel Street, is staffed by a team of five and the Hinckley store, in Castle Street, has a team of seven.
Both have recruited ex-Thomas Cook staff who lost their jobs following the collapse of the travel giant – which also had its routes in Leicester – last year.
Millington Travel was established in 1972 and is owned by Nigel Armitage and Nick Bland. It employs 89 staff across its network.
Mr Armitage said: “We are delighted to be expanding into these two thriving towns and offering the local community a great holiday service.
