Leicester 'told to fork out £40m' for Harry Maguire replacement amid Man Utd and Man City transfer link

Leicester City have been quoted £40m as the price that would tempt Brighton into selling their central defender Lewis Dunk.

With Harry Maguire reportedly being courted by both Manchester United and Manchester City , Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers is already planning for life without the England international, and has identified Dunk as a potential replacement.

After two impressive seasons in the Premier League, however, Dunk will not come cheaply, and with Leicester also set to splash the cash on Newcastle's Ayoze Perez it remains to be seen whether they will be willing to spend the asking price.

It is also unclear if Dunk would seek a move or not. The Brighton-born 27-year-old has been at Albion his whole career other than a brief loan spell at Bristol City.

He made his first start for the club in 2010, and has since helped them progress from League One up to the Premier League, making a total of 270 appearances for the Seagulls.

His impressive performances have also attracted the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate, and he won his first cap for his country in 2018, playing the full 90 minutes in England's 3-0 friendly win over the United States at Wembley.

Rodgers is also allegedly considering Burnley's James Tarkowski as another possibility if Maguire is to leave.

With United having a £70m bid for Maguire rejected, it looks likely that both they and City will have to go up to at least £90m if they are to get their man.

Maguire followed up an impressive World Cup 2018 campaign for England with a solid 2018-2019 season at Leicester, and is now said to be targeting Champions League football, and favours a move to play under Pep Guardiola at City.

United are expected to make another bid for the 26-year-old in the next few days, with City yet to move for the player.
