FC Copenhagen have confirmed they have received a bid from Leicester City for the Ghana international Daniel Amartey.

The 21-year-old, who can play in midfield or defence, has been a longterm target for Leicester as they attempt to maintain their lofty position in the Premier League table.

A fee of £6m is believed to have been submitted, although Copenhagen revealed in a statement that negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs.

“There has been rumours in the press about FC Copenhagen considering selling Daniel Amartey to the English club Leicester City,” read the statement. “FC Copenhagen can confirm that we have received an offer on Daniel Amartey from Leicester City FC. Right now there’s talks between the two clubs. We will send out a new press release if a final agreement is reached.”

Amartey, who has been linked with Liverpool in the past, has made six appearance for Ghana and began his career in Europe with the Swedish side Djurgarden.
