Leicester's move for Celtic star Kieran Tierney dealt blow by Ben Chilwell deal - transfer latest

Leicester will not make a move to sign Kieran Tierney after Manchester City pulled out of a deal to sign Ben Chilwell - according to a report.

Brendan Rodgers had planned on replacing the England international with his former defender but Pep Guardiola has decided to stick with injury-hit Benjamin Mendy and focus his transfer business elsewhere.

City were expected to bid £60m for Chilwell with Rodgers then using £30m of that fee to be reunited with Celtic left back Tierney, according to the Daily Star.

But Guardiola is backing Mendy to come good despite two injury plagued seasons at the Etihad.

Tierney has also been hit with injuries this season and has been heavily linked with moves to England, but the 21-year-old Scotland star has continually committed his future to his boyhood heroes.

Meanwhile, Scott Allan is counting down the days until he returns to Hibs for a third spell. The Easter Road club have agreed a pre-contract with the Celtic midfielder and he can’t wait to get back to the club.

Hibs boss Paul Heckingbottom revealed his future star is massively excited about getting back to playing regular first team football after a miserable spell at Celtic.

He struggled for game time at Celtic and had loan spells at Rotherham and Dundee, as well as Hibs last season.

And Heckingbottom said: “We spoke to Scott a couple of times on the phone but I thought it was important that we arrange to meet up.

“He knows the club and everything about the place but he doesn’t know me and Robbie.

“He was signed before we came in so I thought it was really important to put his mind at ease about where we see him.

“We are looking forward to getting him in and getting him working – Scott is exactly the same. He says he has never looked forward to a pre-season as much in his life!

“That’s good – we’ve got a hungry player there.”
