Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers reacts to Man City Champions League ban

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers said Manchester City's ban from the Champions League doesn't make much difference to the Foxes as they look to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.

City currently sit one point ahead of Leicester in the standings, with a game in hand, but remain 22 points adrift of Liverpool at the top of the table.

Rodgers' side are City's main rivals for a second-place finish and the news of City's UEFA ban broke just hours before Leicester's Friday night game against Wolves.

City plan to appeal UEFA's decision but, if their ruling is upheld, a fifth-place finish in the Premier League will earn a spot in the competition provided Pep Guardiola's men finish inside the top four.

Leicester are 11 points ahead of Sheffield United in fifth but Rodgers is eager to see his side keep their foot on the gas in the coming months.

"I only heard it (the news about the ban) when I was coming into the ground, so my focus was with the game," Rodgers said after the 0-0 draw at Molineux.

"It doesn’t make much difference to ourselves, our focus is to try to finish as high as we can.

"That assessment will take place at the end of the season.

"These players have been amazing, up until now, with 12 games to go, where they sit, they’ve done brilliantly.

"We’ve got a lot of work to do. There’s still 36 points, so we’ve got to keep pushing and keep working.

"The break benefitted us, we’ve come back and showed a good energy, but we had to dig in. It sets up now for the remainder of the season.

"Man City’s issue, whatever that may be, that’s nothing really for us. We’ve just got to keep pushing for ourselves."
