Harvey Barnes is facing a spell of at least six weeks on the sidelines after Brendan Rodgers gave a grim assessment of his forward's latest injury.
The Leicester star was taken off on a stretcher during his side's 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.
Barnes was chasing to intercept a pass when he overstretched before pulling up sharply after 51 minutes, as Cengiz Under was sent on to replace him.
The in-form winger has been pushing for a call-up to the England side but now faces a battle to be back in action to help with Leicester's season run-in.
“It's not good news. It looks like he needs an operation," Foxes' boss Rodgers said after the match.
“We're probably talking about him being out a minimum six weeks. A bit of the bone in his knee has come off.
“It's a bad one for him - it's a huge blow. He had a clash of knees a few weeks ago so it's been irritating him. He's had niggles with it.”
Rodgers added: "The only consolation is that he's not going to be out as long as it looked like. But it's such a blow because Harvey has been outstanding all season, Hopefully he can get back for some part of the season."
It is one of the latest in a spate of injury blows to hit Rodgers' squad as the list of casualties at Leicester begins to mount up.

Already they have lost defender James Justin for the remainder of the season.
James Maddison, Dennis Praet, Wesley Fofana and Ayoze Perez were also ruled out for the visit of Arsenal.
To make Leicester's afternoon worse, Jonny Evans then limped out of the clash late on.
Discussing his centre-back's issue, Rodgers added: "It's kind of like a deadleg, but in his calf. He will need a scan. It's been aggravating him but it started to feel worse."
