Leicester dressing room wary of Newcastle United players 'who can hurt you'

Leicester winger Marc Albrighton admits the Foxes are wary of Newcastle's players 'who can hurt you' on the counter-attack.

And the Premier League winner is convinced the Magpies will prove a 'difficult' test of their Champions League credentials on Friday evening.

Newcastle head to the East Midlands on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday that ended a recent four-match unbeaten run.

United remain nine points clear of the relegation zone with four matches remaining and avoiding defeat on Friday will move them within touching distance of securing their Premier League status for another season.

However, they take on a Leicester side who harbour realistic ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League for only the second time in their history.

And Albrighton is confident Leicester's home form has improved sufficiently to stave off the significant threat he believes Newcastle will pose.

"I know we struggled at home early on," Albrighton told Leicester's official website.

"We had a couple of tough results, but I think we’ve come a long way this season. We’ve learned a lot. We’ve become a better side as the season’s gone on, I do think.

"Whether results show that or not, I do feel like we’ve got a lot more to our game now and this game against Newcastle will be a huge game for us.

"We know it’s not going to be easy. We’ve seen them give teams a real good go in recent weeks. We saw them at Anfield only a few weeks ago and they probably deserved more out of that than the point they got.

"It’s going to be very difficult, as they all are, but we’re more than capable of getting a result and it would be an important three points if we were to do so."

The Magpies have looked stronger in recent weeks, particularly on the counter-attack.

The pace and quality of Allan Saint-Maximin, Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson can hurt most teams in the division and Albrighton admits it is something Brendan Rodgers' side need to be mindful of.

"We’ve played a lot of teams in recent weeks that have got that breakaway on the counter and Newcastle have got players who can hurt you," he continued.

"We need to be mindful of that, which we always are. We know their threat and we need to make sure we don’t commit everyone forward and we do have numbers behind the ball.

"We do know that. We’re experienced enough, all the players, to know when to go and when to stay and who needs to stay."
