Leicester City to face Man City in Community Shield following FA Cup triumph

Manchester City will face Leicester City in the 2021 Community Shield.

Leicester earned their spot in the 2021/22 season curtain-raiser by defeating Chelsea 1-0 in a dramatic FA Cup final at Wembley and winning the famous trophy for the first time in their history.

With fans inside to watch the spectacle, Youri Tielemans scored a winner worthy of the occasion as he fired in the game's only goal into the top corner from 30 yards.

There was drama in the final minutes as Kasper Schmeichel made two outstanding saves and then a Wes Morgan own-goal was ruled out by VAR due to Ben Chilwell being off-side in the build-up.

City earned their own place in the Community Shield by romping to their fifth Premier League title, having been crowned champions following Manchester United's defeat to the Foxes on Tuesday.

While the date and kick-off time for the Community Shield is not yet set in stone, it's expected to take place on Saturday, August 7, a week before the new season begins.

City have won the Community Shield six times.
