Leicester City suffer triple injury blow ahead of Manchester United fixture

Manchester United's top-four rivals Leicester City will be without James Maddison, Ben Chilwell and Christian Fuchs for the remainder of the season, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed.

Leicester returned to winning ways on Thursday with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United, maintaining their narrow advantage over United in the hunt for a top-four finish.

The two sides are currently level on 62 points after United also won against Crystal Palace, but Leicester have the edge on goal difference.

However, Rodgers' side face a testing end to the season with a game against Tottenham before the potential winner-takes-all tie with United on the Premier League's final day.

With just two Premier League games remaining this season, there is everything to play for but Leicester will be without two key players for their final games.

Maddison, who has missed the last four matches due to a hip injury, will remain sidelined for the remainder of the season, while left-back Chilwell, who picked up an injury on July 4 against Crystal Palace, will also be unavailable for those two matches along with fellow defender Fuchs.

"Ben [Chilwell] and James [Maddison] won't play for the rest of the season. We've got a few injuries which have been unfortunate for us," Rodgers said.

Leicester can extend their advantage over United to three points if they beat Tottenham this weekend, with United not in Premier League action due to their FA Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea.

United then tackle relegation-threatened West Ham on Wednesday before travelling to the King Power Stadium for the final match of the season on July 26.
