Leicester City star speaks out on Tottenham transfer links amid Jose Mourinho appointment

Ricardo Pereira has insisted he is focused on Leicester City despite links with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Foxes right-back has been heavily linked with Spurs ever since arriving in England last summer.

Jose Mourinho's arrival in north London has only strengthened those reports in recent days, given the pair's Portuguese connections.

Having sold Kieran Trippier in the summer, Tottenham are believed to be looking to add a right-back with Serge Aurier, Juan Foyth and youngster Kyle Walker-Peters as the current options available to Mourinho.

However, Pereira has insisted he is only concentrating on Leicester City and has paid no attention to any rumours linking him with an exit.

He told Portuguese newspaper Record:  “This is news you’re giving me! I don’t follow the English press, I care more about the Portuguese.

“I don’t know anything! For now, I stay the same. I feel good here, I only think of Leicester.

“Fortunately, the team has been doing very well.”

Despite insisting he wouldn't be on the move in January, Pereira did agree it was great to see Mourinho back in a Premier League job.

Having watched Mourinho lift three titles with Chelsea while still in Portugal, Pereira is pleased to see his fellow countryman back in work.

“He’s been missed,” Ricardo said.

“He’s one of the best coaches in the world. It’s always good for us Portuguese people to get back to work here in England.

“He’s one of the big names in Portuguese football. He’ll be able to show his value again, he’ll be back in the spotlight. It’s more of a challenge for him.

“The league is very balanced. The points difference between 14th and 5th place is quite short.

“In addition, there’s a lot of competition still to come. Therefore, he has more than enough time and conditions to succeed.”
