Leicester City star James Maddison's emotional warning to Manchester United

James Maddison has warned that Leicester City are perfectly happy to do their business on the pitch and out of the limelight.

The Foxes went top of the Premier League with an impressive victory over Chelsea on Tuesday evening in which Maddison played a key role.

In an emotional post-match interview, Maddison said Leicester will keep working hard in the background whilst the likes of Manchester United grab the headlines.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "We are not up there by fluke. We are up there because we work hard.

“Listen, people might talk about the Uniteds, the Liverpools and the Tottenhams or whatever. But let them talk.

“We will do our business in the background and come then end of the season, it will hopefully give us a chance to be right up there.”

Speaking to Leicestershire Live, Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers was a little coyer on whether his side are credible title challengers.

“I don’t really think about it,” he said. “It’s something that gets floated about.

“We’ve seen it all season, Tottenham a few weeks ago were maybe winning the title or were up there challenging, Chelsea, five or six weeks ago everyone was talking about them.

“People will associate it with us because we’re up and about it and consistently playing well.

“You've got the quality of Man City, who are amazing, Liverpool the champions, Manchester United have been great, so for us to look and see Leicester City up and around that with the levels of team that are there, that makes me really happy.

“It’s going to be a huge challenge for us to be up there, but we’re happy to take on that challenge. That’s what we’ll look to do.”
