Leicester City's James Maddison likely to miss Newcastle United clash with ankle injury

Leicester City are likely to be without James Maddison for Sunday's game with Newcastle United as the winger recovers from an ankle injury.

The 22-year-old has been a key man for The Foxes so far this season with the Midlands side sitting third in the Premier League.

Having scored against Spurs at the weekend, Maddison was subbed off and left the stadium with his foot in ice.

Leicester's assistant manager Chris Davies revealed that Maddison had a scan on the injury - and is likely to miss the visit of Newcastle to the King Power Stadium.

"Madders, he got a knock on his ankle,” said Davies after the 4-0 win over Luton.

“He looks a doubt for the weekend. We’ll see how he goes and how he recovers next week."

Leicester have only lost one game this season - 1-0 to Manchester United, and have been tipped by some, including Magpies' legend Alan Shearer , to break into the top four.

Steve Bruce has already faced Leicester this season with Newcastle being knocked out of the League Cup on penalties last month.
