Leicester City latest: Cardiff fixture to go ahead as tributes pour in for Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha

Leicester City's Premier League game with Cardiff City this weekend will go ahead as planned, the club have announced.

The club postponed Tuesday's League Cup fixture with Southampton, along with the The FA Women's Championship match against Manchester United in light of Saturday's helicopter crash which killed owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four others.

A short statement read: "Leicester City’s Premier League fixture at Cardiff City this Saturday (3 November) will go ahead as scheduled, as the Club continues its tributes to its late Chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha."

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock had offered Leicester City his and the club's full support whatever the decision.

"We are all behind Leicester, the players and the fans,” Warnock told Standard Sport. "Whatever they decide will be fine by us.

"That is far more important than a football game.

"We can’t have a say in it whatsoever. We are all supportive. Vincent Tan (Cardiff’s owner) knew Vichai well and so did the others.

"There are all sorts of things that have to be taken into consideration.

"I can promise the Cardiff fans will be amazing if the game takes place, though. I’m sure there will be a lot of tears.

"Our supporters have been absolutely fantastic this season and will make sure it is a suitable occasion, but it will be a difficult afternoon."
